Visitors have can discover epic examples of extreme biology as they stand inside a life-size Megalodon jaw, experience what it would be like to be swallowed by the giant prehistoric snaked called Titanoboa, or measure up against Robert Wadlow, the world’s tallest man, who grew to 8 feet 11 inches. New exhibit panels weave compelling stories about the Pittock family, the architecture and technology of the home, and the history of life in Portland throughout the mansion and gate lodge. The river cruise and land tour will follow the steps of the early settlers allowing guests to rediscover and explore historic Oregon City and the Willamette River. The cruise will include viewing of Willamette Falls, followed by a motor coach land tour with museum tours of the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, Museum of the Oregon Trail, and viewing of historic homes and Oregon City’s commerce and culture. Wednesdays: Caravan Campfires- Songs & S’mores @ The Tiny House Hotel | Live Music
Join us on Wednesday evenings as we gather around the bonfire to make s’mores and listen to music by creative and talented Portland-based musicians. June 4-27: Portland Pedalpalooza Event Schedule: Naked Bike Rides, Parades, Family-Friendly Rides, Music, Bridges, & More
Portland’s gigantic annual bike festival Pedalpalooza kicks off this Thursday, June 4th and runs through June 27th! There are currently over 245 scheduled events including several naked bike rides, parades, puppy-palooza, various music rides, & much more . We have listed most of the rides below by date. June 6-July 5: Watch World Cup in Portland | Schedule, Food & Drink Specials
The 2015 World Cup runs from June 6 – July 5. Portland is known as “Soccer City, USA“ and there will be many bars, theaters, coffee shops, etc showing the games! See the full schedule as well as places to watch in Portland + Food & Drinks Specials.

June 18-July 25:  Portland Actors Ensemble Presents FREE 2015 Shakespeare In The Park (Thursdays – Saturdays)
Portland Actors Ensemble will be presenting Shakespeare’s Macbeth in Portland’s historic Lone Fir Cemetery, directed by Matt Pavik. PAE has been Portland’s Shakespeare-in-the-Parks for 45 years, presenting free Shakespeare every summer since 1970. Performances will be (most) Thursday-Saturday evenings at 7 PM from June 18th-July 25th (no performances on July 4 or July 11). June 19-20: Cider Summit NW Festival in Portland’s Pearl District | 150+ Ciders From Around the World, Food & Music, Father’s Day Weekend
This will be the 15th Cider Summit produced by SBS & Seattle Beer Collective, having launched the concept in Seattle in September 2010 and expanding to Portland, Chicago, and most recently San Francisco. This year’s event will feature over 150 ciders from producers around the country and around the world including regional favorites and international classics. The owners and cidermakers will be on hand to inform and guide guests through the samplings which will be available in 4-ounce tasting portions in a special 5th anniversary souvenir festival glass. June 19-21: Oregon Garden Brewfest | Father’s Day Weekend, 130 Beers, Ciders & Mead from 65+ Breweries (Win Tickets, $80)
The Oregon Garden has announced a new date for its popular Oregon Garden Brewfest, presented by Venti’s Cafe. The 11th annual event, traditionally held in the spring, will take place June 19 through 21 this year, coinciding with Father’s Day. The popular Willamette Valley festival will feature 130 handcrafted beers, ciders and mead from more than 65 different breweries from across the nation. Event hours are Noon to 11 pm Friday & Saturday, and Noon to 5 pm Sunday. More info here.

OMSI, Rose City Astronomers, Vancouver Sidewalk Astronomers and Oregon Parks and Recreation invite you to our free Star Parties. The Star Parties provide a great opportunity to meet other people that share your interest in astronomy, and to view the planets, moon, stars, and other celestial sights through telescopes and binoculars of all sizes. June 20: Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest | Pictures, Bucket & Shovel Dinner, Parade, Concert, Bonfire & More!
Cannon Beach, Oregon will host its annual Sandcastle Contest Saturday, June 20, the oldest competition of its kind in the Pacific Northwest and the most popular event in this Oregon Coast town. Dozens of teams of professional sand sculpture artists, amateur groups and families will construct remarkable creations in the sand during the event which will celebrate its 51st year in 2015. The Masters division teams compete for cash prizes and construct large, elaborate creations often utilizing construction forms, similar to those used for pouring concrete, to accomplish their monumental size. In addition to the shanghaiers and con men, always on the prowl, saloons, gambling halls and bordellos also thrived in “Whitechapel,” “The North End,” or Old Town, as we know it today. With 15 concerts taking place from June through September, the series will showcase a variety of world-renowned artists — from new wave party-rockers the B-52s to reggae superstar Ziggy Marley to country legend Emmylou Harris — before finishing up on Labor Day weekend with a pair of sold-out shows by “Weird Al” Yankovic. June 21: North Portland Sunday Parkways | Streets Closed to Traffic, Free, Schedule, Route Map, Pictures
It’s a family affair. Sunday Parkways continues it celebration of family and communities through our June 21st event that occurs on Father’s Day and focuses on North Portland. This 9.5 mile double loop course will highlight gems across the route, such as the scenic Willamette Bluff, the Peninsula Rose Gardens, the universally accessible Harper’s Playground at Arbor Lodge, as well as the activities offered at the Kenton, Columbia Annex, and McCoy Parks. June 25: Last Thursday Street Fair on Alberta | Music, Art, Beer Garden, Vendors

June 27: A-WOL Open Air Series @ Director Park | Walls & Mazes, Free, 7-9 p.m.

The 2015 Portland Concerts in the Park series kicks off July 6th and runs throughout July and August at parks across the city. The first concert will be Sellwood Riverfront Park in SE Portland. The concerts begin at 6:30PM except the Sunday concerts at Elizabeth Caruthers Park, which are at 3PM. All the concerts are free and family-friendly. More info here.

All Month: Art in the Garden @ Oregon Garden Resort | 3 Outdoor Installations by Local Artists, Opens July 10
The Oregon Garden has announced the return of its “Art in the Garden” presented by Capitol Subaru, a summer addition to the Garden that features three outdoor art installations by local artists. Wednesdays: Free Downtown Portland Concerts – Summer Arts on Main Street | Children’s Activities, Booths, Music
The series, presented every Wednesday from 11AM – 2PM during the months of July and August, includes free music (and other miscellaneous) performances, children’s activities and outdoor booths featuring local artisans selling handmade crafts. Begun in 2004 the event has evolved into a rite of summer for downtown Portlanders, offering a wide range of family-friendly activities along Main Street between SW Broadway & Park Avenue. Adjacent to the Portland Farmers Market on the South Park Blocks and the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Summer Arts on Main Street has helped transform this swathe of downtown into one of the most visible, heavily trafficked areas of the city. July 3-5: Portland Craft Beer Festival @ The Fields Park | Featuring 90+ Beers Brewed in the City by 47 Breweries
Portland, Oregon has more breweries within its city boundaries than any other municipality in the world. The Portland Craft Beer Festival (PCBF) will be an annual opportunity for patrons of legal-drinking age to sample a substantial representation of beers originating from every brewery in Portland. What makes the PCBF unique is the fact that only beers brewed within the city limits of Portland will be featured at the PCBF – this is different from the other beer festivals that occur in the city. In addition to the shanghaiers and con men, always on the prowl, saloons, gambling halls and bordellos also thrived in “Whitechapel,” “The North End,” or Old Town, as we know it today. Some of these storied establishments have come and gone, but others have survived, and many say that Portland, or “Strip City,” still has that vulgar and rugged reputation to this day. The world’s only organic brewers festival, the North American Organic Brewers Festival will celebrate its 11th years with a new date: the event has moved away from its traditional June weekend to August 13 through 16 at Overlook Park in North Portland. August 15: Portland Adult Soapbox Derby Pictures, Video & 2015 Info | Mt Tabor Park, Schedule Spectator Map, After-Party
Now in its 19th year, the PDX Adult Soap Box Derby continues a beloved summertime tradition at Mt. Tabor Park—a community event that draws crowds of 7,000-10,000 people to watch a colorful and sidesplitting spectacle of 40+ coaster cars powered only by gravity, whimsy, and attitude. Camaraderie abounds as some teams focus on speed and engineering (Science!). Some on crowd pleasing or simply shit talk (Art!) and still others find a place in between. On Thursday, August 217 Pioneer Courthouse Square becomes “Piazza Italia” throughout the weekend and culminating on Saturday evening. A piazza is the focus of every Italian village, and such will be the case at Festa Italiana. “A Concert in the Piazza” comes alive with local opera musicians performing arias and ensembles from Italian operas. September 2: Free Downtown Portland Concerts – Summer Arts on Main Street | Children’s Activities, Booths, Music
The series, presented every Wednesday from 11AM – 2PM during the months of July and August, includes free music (and other miscellaneous) performances, children’s activities and outdoor booths featuring local artisans selling handmade crafts. Begun in 2004 the event has evolved into a rite of summer for downtown Portlanders, offering a wide range of family-friendly activities along Main Street between SW Broadway & Park Avenue. Adjacent to the Portland Farmers Market on the South Park Blocks and the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Summer Arts on Main Street has helped transform this swathe of downtown into one of the most visible, heavily trafficked areas of the city. The Oregon Garden has announced the return of its popular Sunsets in the Garden presented by Columbia Bank, an after-hours event that takes place on Wednesday evenings from August 5 to September 9. Sunsets in the Garden features complimentary tastings from local wineries and breweries, live music, tram tours and the opportunity to watch the setting sun from beautiful vantage points in the Garden. September 5-6: Oregon Zoo Summer Concert Series | Weird Al Yankovic
With 15 concerts taking place from June through September, the series will showcase a variety of world-renowned artists — from new wave party-rockers the B-52s to reggae superstar Ziggy Marley to country legend Emmylou Harris — before finishing up on Labor Day weekend with a pair of sold-out shows by “Weird Al” Yankovic. September 5-7: Oregon Dahlia Festival in Canby | Labor Day Weekend, Free, Music, & More

September 1-7: OMSI Presents the Science Behind Ripley’s Believe it or Not | Interactive Exhibit, Optical Illusions, Unbelievable Objects
The Science of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! offers some of the world’s most perplexing optical illusions, investigates incredible examples of body modification and celebrates the life and legacy of Robert Ripley, the explorer and adventurer. Visitors have can discover epic examples of extreme biology as they stand inside a life-size Megalodon jaw, experience what it would be like to be swallowed by the giant prehistoric snaked called Titanoboa, or measure up against Robert Wadlow, the world’s tallest man, who grew to 8 feet 11 inches. September 12: Color Run | Shine Tour, Happiest 5K on the Planet, Thousands of Runners
Less about your 10-minute-mile and more about having the time of your life, The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which thousands of participants, or “Color Runners”, are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. OMSI, Rose City Astronomers, Vancouver Sidewalk Astronomers and Oregon Parks and Recreation invite you to our free Star Parties. The Star Parties provide a great opportunity to meet other people that share your interest in astronomy, and to view the planets, moon, stars, and other celestial sights through telescopes and binoculars of all sizes. End the Sunday Parkways season big by exploring the new Tilikum Crossing Bridge of the People and the Sellwood area.
